It’s not often one runs into a person like the late NYC designer, Peter Mui. Chinese by blood and Country & Western at heart (from his upbringing in Oklahoma) he lived out a truly dynamic identity. His life-long dream was to pioneer a cross-cultural identity to the masses, and he sought to accomplish this mission through a tattoo clothing line called YellowMan.
When Peter Mui approached me, he had original tattoo artwork and a dream, but he had no idea how to bring it all to fruition. Over the following years I helped him build literally every aspect of the YellowMan brand, which included eventual partnership programs with Disney, Marvel, and Harley-Davidson. I directed and designed presentations that yielded major accounts with Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s. I built innovative multimedia websites (with 3D models users could rotate), wrote copy, mocked up products for presentations, designed all labels, hang tags and other packaging. I directed and photographed product and lifestyle shots, designed and built fixtures for trade shows, wrote press releases, and even co-produced a pilot concept for a reality television show. And much more.
